Video Starter Kit - Configurations

We provide website configuration section in control panel, that can be used to configure almost every part and feature of asp.net video starter kit advance edition, including multiserver settings, video encoding and publishing settings, ftp settings, website general settings and more.

Below is the detail of configuration settings that can be set before starting asp.net video starter kit advance edition.

Note: Video Starter Kit 5.2 introduced advance configuration management with lots of more features to control not only website related tasks but also have the ability to turn on or off any feature within web application.

Below configuration only valid for Video Starter Kit 5.1 or below.

Video Uploading Options (vsk ver 3.5)

i: Site Videos (default)
ii: Embed Videos
iii: Both Site & Embed Videos

There are three options available in video starter kit advance edition. You can choose

i: site videos (allow only website videos to be uploaded).

ii: embed videos (allow only embeded videos to be uploaded).

iii: Both website & embed videos. (allow both website and embed videos to be uploaded).
Video Publishing

i Direct Publishing

 In direct publishing, video will be published, encoded just after video uploading. It will be good if no of concurrent video uploading is small.
 

ii: Sheduled Published

In Sheduled publishing, video uploaded will be queued as unpublished video and later all unpublished videos will be published, encoded in sequential mode one by one. This approach maintain scalability of servers while uploading and encoding large number of videos at a time. Good for small or large no of video uploading.
Video Approval Type

i: Automatic

By setting automatic option, all videos after publishing will be approved and visible to public automatically.
 

ii: Manual

By setting manual option, video must be reviewed and mark as reviewed before showing it to public.
OutputType:

i: Flash FLV

By setting this option, video publishing script generate output video as flash flv format.
 

ii: H264 encoded MP4

By setting this option, video will be encoded in mp4 format using H264 codec. Any video encoded with h264 format can play on flash players.
 

ii: Silverlight WMV

Setting this option will publish every video to wmv format and silverlight video player will be enable automatically to play and stream wmv videos.
Video Uploading Type

i: Single Server

By setting single server, all videos will be store on single server. You can any type change its status to multiple server.
 

ii: Multiple Server

By setting Multiple server, all videos will be transfer to another server via ftp information provided by owner. If no ftp information available then again video starter kit will use single server settings to store videos on local server.
FLV Video Url

Optional -> Empty for local server.

You can set complete url for folder where flv videos will be store on remote servers. For local server, leave it blank. url will be like

Original Video Url

Optional -> Empty for local server.

You can set complete url for folder where original videos will be store on remote servers.

Thumbs Video Url

Optional -> Empty for local server.

You can set complete url for folder where original videos will be store on remote servers.

FTP Url for FLV Video

Optional -> Empty for local server.

You can set ftp url for transfering flv videos to another server. It will work if multiple server option is on.

FTP Url for Original Video

Optional -> Empty for local server.

You can set ftp url for transfering flv videos to another server. It will work if multiple server option is on.

FTP Url for Thumbs Video

Optional -> Empty for local server.

You can set ftp url for transfering flv videos to another server. It will work if multiple server option is on.

FTP Username

Optional -> Empty for local server.

FTP username, used for authentication.
FTP Password

Optional -> Empty for local server.

FTP password, used for authentication.
Video Thumb Type

i: Multiple

It will set thumb display on video listings. Setting multiple will set multiple thumbs preview.
 

ii: Single

Setting single will display single thumb without any preview of video on video listing.

Video Encoder

i FFMPEG

Encoder that will be used for publishing videos. Video starter kit uses ffmpeg, later we will add some more tools as option for publishing videos.

Rating Type

i Image

This will set how to display video rating with each video item in galleries. Setting image will display rating as rating star image.

 

ii Digit

This will set rating of each video as digit with each video item in galleries.

Video Formats

.wmv,.mpg,.avi,.mp4,.flv

Here you can set video formats that will be allowed on video starter kit. Every video will be validate at time of video uploading whether it meet with this requirement. Failure will result in "invalid video format".

Video Max Size

in MBs e.g 10

Set maximum allowable video size in MB. Exceeding this limit will be result in failure as "video limit exceed"
Abuse Report Count

digits

Set how many abuse report reported by different users against any video that will be blocked automatically.

Video Play

i: Automatic

Setting automatic option will allow each video to be played automatically by flash player.

 

ii: Manual

Setting manual will allow flash player not to play videos automatically until user click on play button.

Delete Original Video

yes | no

This will allow video starter kit to delete original video after video completely published and their information saved in database.

Admin Email

mail address

This will be used by video starter kit to send mails to members.

Video Width

default 320

Set width of video to be encoded. Must be set as multiple of two in order to get proper result.

Video Height

default 240

Set height of video to be encoded. Must be set as multiple of two.

Video Bitrate

default 360

Set video bitrate for encoded video.

Audio Bitrate

default 32

Set audio bitrate for encoded video.

Audio SamplingRate

default 22050

Set audio sampling rate for encoded video.

Thumb Width

default 150

Set thumb width for grabbing thumb. must be set as multiple of two.

Thumb Height

default 150

Set thumb height for grabbing thumb. must be set as multiple of two.

Video Padding On

yes | no

This option enable video padding in case of widescreen (16:9 aspect ratio) vidoe. By enabling it wide screen videos will be encoded to normal video (4:3 aspect ratio) by adding padding on top and bottom of video in order to avoid any stretching of video.

Email Validation

yes | no

  • Note: This option allow you to enable / disable email validation after signup process.
  • No: will allow user to signup and activate user account automatically without any email validation.
  • Yes: will allow user to signup and validate it by clicking on email validation link that is sent via email.

 
Adult Content Verification

yes | no

  • Note: This option allow you to enable / disable adult valitation for adult contents.
  • No: No warning popup if user access adult content.
  • Yes: Will enable adult validation (warnining option) will popup if user access adult content.

 
Is Email Enable:

yes | no

  • Note: This option allow you to enable / disable email to be sent to user external mail for various operations
  • Yes will enable email.
  • No will disable email.
Is Ads Enable:

yes | no

  • Note: This option allow you to enable / disable advertisement on website to be shown on different parts of website.
  • Yes will enable ads.
  • No will disable ads

 
Post Watermark:

yes | no

  • Note: This option allow you to enable / disable watermark posting on videos. If you enable posting watermark option. Make sure that watermark image exist on the following location.
  • /contents/watermark/
  • Watermark image must be transparent .gif file and its size must be same as video width and height settings.
  • FFMPEG must be shared build with proper vhook/watermark.dll file available.
